About

I'm a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Department of Informatics at Kyoto University. I study computer science broadly, with a focus on web development. I'm especially interested in security technologies such as authentication and authorization.

In my university research, I work on conceiving and validating a new authentication method that uses "space" as a clue. I'm building the authentication system itself along the way, and I plan to try it out in a variety of settings going forward.

I value learning by understanding things hands-on. Building an authorization server, client, and resource server from scratch for OAuth 2.0 and OIDC is one example. I'm also learning other technologies, such as frontend development, in parallel.

AuthForge

Ongoing series

An article series where I built up my understanding of authentication and authorization one step at a time, starting from Basic authentication, and wrote it up so that others can follow along. I turned what I learned into implementations, then ran them and tried attacks on my own machine to confirm how each mechanism actually works. For now, the series covers Basic authentication through OIDC as one self-contained set. Going forward, I plan to keep writing about the latest authentication and authorization technologies, such as Passkeys and OpenID4VCI.

Horse Game

The Horse Game betting screen, showing the list of horses with odds and empty slots for adding betsThe Horse Game payout screen, showing the finishing order and the winnings for each bet

A horse racing game built to learn TypeScript. I made it more fun to play by giving each horse hidden parameters and offering several types of bets. The UI is composed of React components, with multiple pieces of state interacting to drive the whole flow, and I focused on keeping game logic separate from the UI. No login required, so you can start playing right away.

Skills

Technologies I use

Core

  • OAuth 2.0 / OIDCUnderstand how each flow works, and have implemented the authorization server, client, and resource server myself
  • TypeScript / ReactUsed while learning frontend development. Comfortable with the basics of building a screen out of components

Used in Research

  • PythonBuilt the research backend with FastAPI. Wrote the processing that analyzes spatial data with Open3D, a 3D data processing library, and runs evaluations repeatedly
  • SwiftDeveloping a research app that measures space via ARKit
  • TypeScriptBuilt an admin dashboard for reviewing research data analysis results right away

Familiar With

  • C++Studied algorithms and data structures in my informatics curriculum; AtCoder green
  • PostgreSQLLearned database design and indexing in university coursework
  • Git / GitHubUsed day to day in personal projects

Career

My background

  • Apr 2023Enrolled at Kyoto University, Department of Informatics
  • Apr 2026Joined a research lab and started research on authentication using spatial information
  • Apr 2027Expected enrollment, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University
  • Mar 2029Expected completion, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University

Writing

I write technical articles on Zenn.

I write about authentication and security, along with computer science topics more broadly, summarizing what I've learned.
